Application Form

How to Apply

Journalism students who graduated from one of the following university journalism programs in 2009, or who expect to graduate in the first half of 2010, are eligible to apply for the Gordon Sinclair Fellowship:

Carleton University
Concordia University
Kwantlen University College
Ryerson University
St. Thomas University
Thompson Rivers University
Université Montréal
Université du Québec à Montréal
University of King's College
University of Regina
Laurier-Brantford
Université Laval
University of British Columbia
University of Western Ontario

Applications to the Gordon Sinclair Fellowship must be received by email.

The deadline for applications is March 5, 2010.

The application should include some key information in the text of the email with other documents attached. Your references will also have to send separate email messages containing their comments.

Please read these instructions closely.

1)  Your application will be submitted to the following email address:
gsfellowship@gmail.com

2) The subject line of the email should contain your full name only.

3) Use this guide to cut and paste the required information into the message field of your email message:

  • Your full name, last name first:
  • Mailing address:
  • Telephone number:
  • Mobile phone number:
  • Email address:
  • Date of birth:
  • Citizenship status (Canadian citizen or permanent resident):
  • Post-secondary education (Institution attended and degree obtained):
  • If you have not graduated yet, when will you graduate?
  • Names, telephone numbers and email addresses for two referees:
  • A statement of intent, not exceeding 1000 words, outlining why you are a suitable candidate for the Gordon Sinclair Fellowship, your proposed plan of study and how it would make you a better journalist.

4) Attach the following documents to your email message:

  • Your latest CV
  • A scanned or electronic copy of your most recent university transcript

5) Please instruct both of your references to send a brief letter of recommendation, by email,  from their office email account. Your name should be in the subject line of the message. The reference should be sent to: gsfellowship@gmail.com.

The deadline for completed applications is March 5, 2010.
